Ferries

Ferries Stena Hollandica

Ferries vary in size according to the needs of their operation, but they can be very large, with substantial crews including hotel and catering staff. The ferries crewed by Nautilus members tend to be those operating around the UK and Netherlands; for example in the English Channel, the North Sea, the Irish Sea, the Scottish Highlands and Islands, and around the Isle of Wight.

On these vessels, the personnel most likely to be Nautilus members are shipmasters, ship’s officers (navigation, engineering and electro-technical) and other senior staff such as the head of onboard services. Sometimes a ferry’s security personnel are also members of the Union.
