If you’re working towards your OOW (Yachts) certification, you will be required to complete this MCA-approved module. This course will help you develop an in-depth knowledge of on-board systems.

The General Ship Knowledge (OOW Yachts) course provides an introduction to ship construction, stresses and corrosion, transverse stability, reverse buoyancy and damage control, meteorology and seamanship, watchkeeping, preparation for sea, and maintenance.

What’s included?
The classroom based General Ship Knowledge (OOW Yacht) course is an all-inclusive course, which can be carried out on either a residential or non-residential basis. For the residential course, the cost includes all food and accommodation. For non-residential learners, the cost includes lunch.
Examination & assessment
General Ship Knowledge (GSK) course assessment consists of a 2.5 hour theory paper. A 60% mark is required to pass the examination.
Prerequisites
To complete this training course, you’ll need:
At least RYA/IYT Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate, as well as the corresponding Shorebased certificate
STCW Basic Training and Efficient Deck Hand
Qualifications

Officer of the Watch (Yachts less than 3000gt)
