Transport keyworkers, including seafarers, are invited to submit photos of their daily work life for a photo competition being run by the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF).
The ITF is looking for 'captivating and compelling photos that provide a real and authentic glimpse into the daily lives and experiences of transport workers. We want to see your daily grind, your triumphs, and the often unseen challenges you tackle every day.'
The competition is free to enter and open to workers aged 18 and over, of all genders, from all regions, and all transport sectors – including maritime, aviation, railways, road and public transport.
Photos play a crucial role in shedding light on the importance of transport workers and help will help unions fight for better rights for all transport workers.
This year the competition has a new People's Choice award where shortlisted entries will go head-to-head for a cash prize of up to £1.5k.
Five prize categories are up for grabs, including the first prize worth £2k, second prize worth £1k, third prize worth £500, a highly commended category worth £200 and the People's Choice award.
The announcement of all winners and an exhibition of the finalists' entries will take place during ITF's Congress in Marrakesh, Morocco, on 17 October 2024.
The competition opened on 1 May and photographic submissions need to be in before the closing date of 12 August 2024. The people's vote will then be held between 1 September and 16 October, with the winners being announced on 17 October 2024.
The photographs submitted need to have been taken from 1 Jan 2023 to 12 August. They may also be shown and shared on a number of platforms, but principally will be used to communicate the work of the ITF and its affiliates through its website, publications, social media platforms and campaigns.
