Nautilus caseworker John Norris was among those who turned out for the D-Day commemorations in Hull, organised by the Hull Independent Merchant Navy Assocation (HIMNA).
Mr Norris joined a good turnout of the Armed Forces and members of the public at Minerva Pier for the event to mark 80 years since the invasion of occupied France.
The standards were led in by Pipe Major Dale McClean, with the Lord Mayor Mark Collinson and Town Crier Michael Wood.
A wealth of service medals were on view during the event, with many participants displaying the medals from parents who took part in the D-Day landings.
Contingents from naval groups around Yorkshire including Scarborough and Harrogate members also attended the event.
Wreaths were laid on the official Merchant Navy and Royal Navy memorials by representatives from those navies, as well as submariners, the Hull Fishing Heritage Centre and the mayor.
