Nautilus visits crew onboard RV Corystes

6 February 2025

Nautilus International's head of industrial Micky Smyth visited members employed by Heyn Engineering onboard the research vessel RV Corystes at Belfast Port on 1 February 2025.

'I have visited both watches during recent months as part of our effort to find two new liaison officers – one to represent officers and one to represent ratings,' Mr Smyth said.

Liaison Officers play an essential role in assisting colleagues and members at work, participate in negotiations, and are the key link between the Union and members in the workplace.

'Once this is completed, we will seek aspirations from members for the forthcoming pay and conditions review, which is due to begin from 1 April 2025.

'Nautilus looks forward to engaging with Heyn in the spirit of partnership and cooperation, which we have done for many years, as the union representing maritime professionals at sea and ashore.'
