Nautilus is asking its members – and the public – to send a clear message to the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company (IOMSPCo) that threats of fire and rehire against hardworking seafarers will not be tolerated.
The Union has launched a new petition against fire and rehire, open to all, which has already gained over 600 signatures.
It is part of Nautilus's campaign on behalf of members at the company, which is demanding that they accept fundamental changes to their terms and conditions which amount to an extra 40% of time spent at work and away from their families.
IOMSPCo has also refused independent arbitration.
As a result of the company's unwillingness to engage, Nautilus will now be balloting members on industrial action.
At this difficult time for members, the Union is asking everyone to show solidarity with workers who are facing unreasonable demands from management.
Join us in sending a clear message to end the threat of fire and rehire by signing the petition.
