Helen Kelly is director of communications, campaigns and digital at cross-boundary maritime union Nautilus International.

Biography

Helen had her first professional breakthrough in journalism when she emigrated from Australia to the UK in the year 2000, having had lots of work experience in the media whilst completing her BA honours degree at Melbourne University.

Before joining Nautilus in 2019 Helen was previously Europe Editor-in-Chief at Lloyd's List maritime newspaper.

She has been interviewed for live television and radio as a shipping analyst and has worked as a broadcast and print journalist and editor at several well-known UK news organisations including The Guardian, The Telegraph and Trinity Mirror. Helen has worked as a UK stringer for US radio station Free Speech Radio News. She has also spent time with Guinness World Records, and lifestyle and fitness magazine Zest.

Helen has led on several projects including driving the introduction of the digital communications strategy, which encompasses webinars, podcasts, and video content to support campaigns objectives on behalf of members.

Helen has chaired and presented at numerous maritime events, and conferences and launched a charitable fundraising event - the Maritime Grand Slam tennis tournament for the Nautilus Welfare Fund.
