About us
The Northern Lighthouse Board is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, responsible for the superintendence and management of all lighthouses, buoys and beacons within those waters. We have provided this vital safety service to mariners since 1786.
The Role – Overview
Reporting to the Technical Superintendent as Chief Engineer you are responsible for the safe, effective and efficient operation of all technical systems to maximise availability of the vessel and hold Line Management responsibility for the Engine room team. You will act as Safety Officer and proactively carry out the associated duties.
Qualifications/ Experience Required
- Minimum qualification required is a valid STCW95 Unlimited Chief Engineer’s III/2 Certificate of Competency.
- Dynamic Positioning experience on diesel/electric powered vessels would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of statute and legislation.
- Detailed industry knowledge.
- People Management skills.
- Ability to write accurate and detailed reports.
- A valid unrestricted MCA Medical Certificate (ENG 1).
- STCW Certification: ISPS – Proficiency in Designated Security Duties/ Elementary First Aid/ Personal Survival Techniques/ Survival Craft and Rescue Boats/ Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting/ Advanced Firefighting/ Personal Safety and Social responsibility.
