King’s Lynn Conservancy Board is a Trust Port with responsibility for regulating marine traffic, marine conservancy and safety of navigation within its area of jurisdiction on the eastern side of the Wash and
the river Great Ouse.
The appointment will be for Deputy Harbour Master, supporting the Harbour Master for control and administration of working operations and associated practices of the Authority. We are looking for a capable individual with a strong marine background either Merchant Navy or Royal Navy with command or senior experience and who may also have experience in a managerial role for a Port Authority.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a period as Trainee Marine Pilot leading to qualification of Class 2 Pilot to support the pilotage department as required.
Applicants will require as a minimum;
• Entitlement to live & work in the UK.
• A valid STCW II/2 Master or Mate Certificate of Competency or equivalent RN cert.
• A valid ENG1 medical certificate.
• Permanent residence within a 10-mile radius of King’s Lynn.
• Be fluent in spoken and written English.
• Good leadership and interpersonal skills dealing with all issues of a small workforce.
• Knowledge of Marine Operations in ports including Pilotage and Towage.
• Knowledge of the Port Marine Safety Code.
