Apply nowTrinity House is seeking a highly motivated, team focussed, professional, Engineering Superintendent with an unlimited Chief Engineer’s CoC to join our Marine Operations team based in Harwich, UK.
As part of a small team, after an initial familiarisation and settling in period, you will have Engineering responsibility for Trinity House vessels and workboats that are allocated to you.
You will be responsible as part of the team for Superintendency, oversight of on-board repair programmes and dry dock. This will include development of specification, participation in the tendering process, assessment of tenders, management of the contract and settlement of invoices. Experience of public procurement regulations as well as UK and Northern European ship repair facilities is an advantage.
You will be working within the Marine Operations team to ensure the maintenance and availability of assets afloat and assist with the management of all marine engineering personnel.
You can look forward to plenty of variety – including working in co-ordination with our partners in the Northern Lighthouse Board and the Commissioners of Irish Lights. You must be keen to build your knowledge and skills. The ability to quickly get to grips with new technology is an important attribute.
With proven management, budgetary, project management skills and experience in sailing as Chief Engineer, you will also have a thorough working knowledge of Class rules, Regulatory legislation and a good understanding of the ISM code. You should also have experience with diesel electric propulsion systems and condition based maintenance including vibration monitoring.
This position would suit a team focussed professional with the ability to work and cooperate within a small team. While the role is mainly office/hybrid based, the ability to spend periods of time travelling in the UK and Europe is essential.
