The successful candidate will have:-
Essential:
• Recent sea-time experience or relevant maritime education. Would particularly suit a recently qualified officer or recent maritime education leaver.
• A good understanding of the UK Maritime Educational & Training system.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent report writing skills. Ability to effectively communicate with people at many levels.
• Ability to positively influence and engage with members, employers and others within the maritime industry.
• Ability to analyse and resolve complex problems in the context of the Nautilus Policy.
• Ability to demonstrate an affinity with Nautilus' values.
Desirable:
• A good understanding of the maritime regulatory regime at the international and national level.
• Working knowledge of maritime legislation and it’s practical application.

Head of Professional and Technical/Director of Legal Services
Location: Central London (& Hybrid).
Purpose of Post
To support the Protech/Legal Cluster in representing Nautilus at meetings with various national and international organisations such as IMO, ILO, MNTB and Government Departments. Assist in providing advice and guidance to members and internal stakeholders on Protech and Legal Matters.
Responsible for
1. Assisting in representing Nautilus at a wide range of organisations, supporting the professional, technical and legal team.
2. Assisting in the co-ordination of Nautilus responses to consultations in Protech and Legal areas and where appropriate, draft responses.
3. Assist in project work and, in particular, project work related to Nautilus strategic plan and objectives.
4. To provide assistance to members that may have a variety of occupational health and safety issues as well as legal issues (dependent on experience and qualifications).
5. Assist in maintaining and developing contacts within a range of organisations including classification societies, underwriters, professional institutes etc. and using those contacts to the benefit of Nautilus members.
6. Assist in the organising and running of Protech/Legal committees, meetings and events.
7. Assisting in the preparation of reports, publications, newsletters and any other documentation as required.
8. Perform any other duties which may, from time to time, be reasonably required.
