We are looking for 3 Chief Engineers on our Lymington to Yarmouth route.
What you’ll be doing
- Ensure the maintenance of all machinery, machinery spaces and equipment including repairs are carried out in accordance with Company requirements, including keeping the required records
- Ensure that all technical aspects of the ship’s operation are carried out in a safe and efficient manner
- Make provision for regular checks on machinery spaces throughout the watch and ensure they are carried out
- Ensure that safety routines and drills are carried out
- The provisions of the Safety Management System [SMS] are complied with
What we’re looking for
- As this is a technical role, the successful individual will need to hold the required Certificate Of Competency
- Effective liaison with the superintendents ensuring full, clear and concise communications is essential
- An ability to develop and motivate junior officers and ratings is required, as well as to develop strong working relationships with colleagues
- Openness and commitment to assisting the Company meet its operational manning requirements when colleague absence is experienced
