The radio society at Mariners' Park recently requested a new radio station call sign from the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB). The call sign requested was GB2MPR (MPR = Mariners' Park Radio).
This request was rejected on the grounds that the radio station was not open to the general public. I consider their decision to be unreasonable. Our radio society members are the public, whether we live at Mariners' Park or come in from the local area.
I respectfully request any members of the RSGB or other supporters reading this to email/write to the RSGB to allow us to have this radio call sign which uniquely represents Mariners' Park Radio.
RSGB contact information can be found on their website.

UPDATE: November 2025
Following the above appeal for help, the Mariners' Park Radio Station has won its campaign for a new callsign.
The station is run by a society of retired marine radio officers who live on the Park or in the Merseyside area. Member Clive Evans had explained in the September/October 2025 Telegraph how disappointed the group had been when the Radio Society of Great Britain had not allocated them a call sign that reflected their situation.
Happily, the effort to overturn that decision has now paid off, and the callsign for the station is now G5MPR. The society meets every Friday to broadcast and receive messages, and the members would be delighted to receive calls to their new callsign from fellow amateur radio enthusiasts around the UK and beyond.

There's no crisis in the yacht sector
I read Rob Coston's interview with yacht sector recruitment agent Max Lee on your website and found it sensationalist. In my opinion, it incorrectly described the situation regarding safety in yachting as a 'crisis'.
Expertise needed for my student cybersecurity survey
I am a first-year cadet, with experience as a rating, who is conducting a survey on the shipside adaptation of cybersecurity practices, and I would be extremely grateful if fellow Nautilus members could complete a short survey for me.
