The Maritime Charities Group (MCG) has extended its Covid Redundancy and Retraining fund until 31 March 2022. This extension comes after a review of the ongoing Covid situation and latest industrial developments.
Trinity House and the Merchant Navy Welfare Board, both of which are MCG members, will be providing the bulk of bursary funding, alongside a contribution from the Nautilus Slater Fund. The Marine Society will administer the fund on behalf of MCG.
The scheme helps unemployed UK seafarers affected by redundancy or cancellation of a contract to retrain or upskill. It has benefitted many seafarers already, including John Scott Agnew, whose story was covered in the Nautilus Telegraph.
More information on the fund and how to apply can be found on the Marine Society website.
