Marine Scotland confirms two year pay deal and commits to zero compulsory redundancies

20 April 2020

Nautilus members at the Scottish Government Marine's offshore bargaining unit SGMarine will received a bump in their April pay packets under the agreed two year pay and conditions deal.

A guarantee of no compulsory redundancies has also been extended until 31 March 2021, under the terms of Pay Policy.

National Organiser Steve Doran confirmed the deal runs from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2021, and the terms of the pay award will be implemented with end of April salaries.

Key features covered by the pay award which is performance related included:

  • all salaries of £36,500 or less will increase by at least 3% in each year
  • all salaries above £36,500 will increase by at least 2% in each year
  • staff in marine grades who are below the maximum of their pay range will progress towards their pay range maximum

The two-year award applies to staff in SGMarine, and also applies to any staff who are working on loan or secondment unless it has been agreed explicitly that other pay arrangements will apply.

SGMarine comprises officers and crew of five marine protection vessels, marine, engineer and safety superintendents, and officers or ratings undertaking temporary shore-based assignments.
