Nautilus Council has 12 new members and more diversity than ever following the results of the 2026 election.
The Council is the Union's governing body, consisting of serving maritime and inland waterways professionals drawn from all three national branches and the various sectors served by members of Nautilus International to ensure fair representation for all and a diverse pool of knowledge. It ensures Nautilus International is run according to the resolutions passed by members at branch conferences and General Meetings.
As always, all full members across Nautilus International were eligible to vote for any of the candidates, no matter which sector they worked in or whether their national branch was the UK, Netherlands or Switzerland.
Following the close of voting, the results of the Nautilus International Council elections were declared by the scrutineer Civica Election Services (CES) on Friday 24 April.
There was stiff competition for places on the Council representing members in the categories Navigators (including Ship Masters) (UK Branch) and Other particular categories, including hotel services and shore-based members (UK Branch). All other Council members were elected unopposed.
There are twelve new members on Council, as well as a newly elected general secretary of Nautilus, Sascha Meijer.
The newly elected members of the Council are Laura Swinbanks, Robert Morris, Scarlett Barnett-Smith, Graham Harwood, Giles Rice, Chris Haan, Tom Cardy, Louis Frank Stephens-Ramsden, Thomas Jewell, James Viscardini, Rob Veltman, and David Kwabena Ofori.
Re-elected members are Allan Dickson, Iain MacKenzie, Ross Cleland, Fraser Matthew, Hein Hiemstra, Geert Feikema, Jessica Tyson, Harald Ludwig, Jan van der Zee and Wilco van Hoboken.
Nautilus International would like to thank all members who participated in the election, including those who took the time out of their busy schedules to stand as candidates and those who cast their vote.
