Third Engineer Willie Jackson bade a fond farewell to fellow Nautilus Council members in April, following his retirement from the Union's governing board.

Willie is a longstanding member of the Council, an activist and liaison officer for Technip. He was part of the negotiating team in 2006 that won a 43% uplift in pay following a three-day meeting with the employer at Manchester Airport - the single largest award in the Union's history.

In 2019 Willie was recognised with the General Secretary's award for his exemplary determination and commitment to the Union's goals and in support of their fellow members.

In an emotional address, Willie said: 'Over the years, I have made some very good friends on Council. I’ve had to rely on them, and all I can say is keep up the good work.'

Nautilus general secretary Mark Dickinson said: 'Twenty three years I’ve known this son of Wrexham! They have Paul Mullin as their star striker but the star of the Council of Nautilus International is the one and only Willie Jackson. He stepped down from his elected role after decades of sterling service to our members. I am proud to know him.'
