A helpful guide on 'how to have an environmentally friendly charter' was published by Nautilus strategic yacht partner West Nautical on World Oceans Day.
Key tips for masters or chief officers included ensuring crew are informed of the correct garbage disposal and recycling plan before a yacht enters a marina or port. These can include different colour garbage bags and designated bins for each type of garbage disposal.
Contributing to an ocean clean-up project such as 4Ocean, who clean plastic and waste out of the ocean all over the world or installing a Seabin off the yacht's stern was also tipped as a 'great way of removing plastic and garbage from the ocean whilst in a marina, at anchor or underway'.
The guide also had tips for each department for interior, deck and galley crew.
