Your vote counts for maritime diversity awards!

4 August 2023

Nautilus members are invited to cast their vote at the Career4Sea Europort Awards for diversity projects supported by the Union, which are aimed at encouraging the maritime industry to get smarter on recruitment and retention to reduce barriers to careers at sea.

Nautilus participated in the WESS project (2020-2022), which is nominated for one of the Diversity and Inclusion awards. The WESS project is a twin-pronged European project aimed at attracting more women and more people from under-represented groups into the maritime industry, and also investing in digital transitions. It was undertaken jointly by the European Transport Workers Federation (ETF) – with unions including Nautilus taking part – and shipowners with the support of the European Union. Nautilus executive officer Sascha Meijer was a powerful panel speaker at this year's conference presenting the project outcomes, and the Union's diversity lead Danny McGowan also took part.

MUK's Diversity in Maritime programme has also been nominated, where Mr McGowan is the Pride in Maritime Network chair, and Nautilus director of communications, campaigns and digital Helen Kelly is the Speaker Bank project group lead.

Be sure to cast your vote by the deadline of Friday 15 September 2023.
